HOPE not hate
Radio 43 | Episode 46 | Intelligence Report | From the Government to the Streets: Anti-Migrant Activism in 2023
Welcome to episode 46 of Radio 43.
This episode takes a similar form to the last one, in that it serves as a deep-dive into one particular topic: anti-migrant demonstrations.
There’s no getting away from the fact that this has become a really unifying focus for the far right this year.
HOPE not hate has been monitoring closely, and there’s been over 60 anti-migrant demonstrations that have taken place on town streets and at temporary accommodation around the country in 2023. But where did this all come from? How far is government rhetoric and policy encouraging the far right on the ground? How are local tensions being exploited by far right activists? And to what extend is the media helping to increase divisions?
On this episode, Nick is joined by Director of Research Joe Mulhall and Director of Policy Rosie Carter, to pick through the features of a trend of activism that has been a real concern throughout 2023.
Thank you for checking out the podcast.

Oh, very infrequently on this episode there’s a small electrical hum which lasts for a few seconds. No idea where that has come from but will look into it ahead of the next episode which will be at the start of August.
Cheers,
